This recent project we did for a customer involved developing a legal suite here in Calgary. We see lots of old basements where the framing was done by the original homeowner. Stud spacings can be all over the map making it very difficult to insulate with fibreglass batts that are made in specific widths. On this one we used an application of the Genyk Boreal Nature Elite at a depth of 2″. It can actually be exciting to spray foam these older houses, knowing it will completely change the feel and efficiency of the home, filling in minor cracks in the foundation as we go. I know from first hand experience how big of a difference it can make.
Another advantage of the foam is the speed at which we can do even a large basement. We’ll take care of these jobs in one visit and the builder has the best possible insulation application and he can move on to the drywall 24 hours after we’re done. This will be a comfortable space for people long into the future.

There are 6 levels of drywall finishing from Drywall Level 0: which means no taping, finishing, or accessories, to Drywall Level 5: a premium finish, where a surface has a single texture over the entire area and the highest degree of quality in drywall. It requires all aspects of a Level 4 finish and an additional skim coat of joint compound to cover the entire surface. We specialize in spray applications of drywall neutralizers to take drywall from a Level 4 finish to a Level 5 finish in one step.
The product our customers are most pleased with is a high hide primer-surfacer that will minimize the chance of call-backs by greatly reducing the joint banding and fix points (nail/screw holes) so they are not visible through the paint finish. Level 5 is key when dark colours or gloss/semi-gloss finishes or critical light areas are specified. This product can also be left unpainted where a flat white ceiling is desired, saving the builder/homeowner money.

No job too big or too small is an expression that comes to mind with one of our recent projects. The images below showcase bump out added on to the side of a house here in Calgary. The drywall contractor didn’t want to mess around with batt and poly here so he decided on spray foam insulation. It’s the underside of roof, walls and cantilever all taken care of in one visit.

Here at Sterling Interiors we pride ourselves on producing the highest quality finished product that we can. One of the ways we achieve this is using backer boards that are thicker on the outside edge than in the middle. This way we can float the butt joint in between the studs or joists making the butt joint a tapered joint requiring less mud and less sanding on the finish end. This product is a win-win as the joints now require less work to coat and sand, but also look amazing.

At Sterling Interiors we specialize in spray applications of drywall neutralizers that take drywall from a Level 4 finish to a Level 5 in one step. The images below show a small addition we did on a house recently on the final day after spraying the Level 5.
Level 5 is an application we do to neutralize the difference between the paper and drywall mud making a smoother more beautiful finish. After sanding we blow off much of the dust especially in the corners and apply a heavy coat of a high quality primer/surfacer.
